About the company
- Are you licensed where required, and do you carry liability insurance? Can I see proof?
- Will your own crew do the work, or subcontractors?
- What training or industry certifications do your technicians hold?
About the job
- When can you inspect, and roughly how long will drying take?
- Will I get a written estimate before work starts?
- How will you measure and record moisture levels?
- Do you handle repairs after drying, or only mitigation?
About payment and insurance
- What are your payment terms, and what happens if my insurer doesn't cover something?
- Will you provide photos, moisture logs and an itemized invoice for my claim?
- Do you offer any warranty on the work?
Write down the answers. If anything feels unclear, it's reasonable to ask for it in writing before you sign.
